Navigating San Diego

The San Diego International Airport is a 10-minute ride from downtown. Take a cab for about $18 or hop on the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System's Airport Flyer (Route 992 for $2.25).

The San Diego Trolley Light Rail System stops at points of interest around San Diego County, including Fashion Valley Mall, just minutes from TechCon's host Hotel, or downtoen, Old Town and even the US-Mexico border. Seven days a week, every 15-minutes, 5am to midnight. To get to the Marriott San Diego Mission Valley, TechCon's Host Hotel, ride the Green Line and take the Mission Valley Center stop. Access is from the rear of the Marriott San Diego Mission Valley.


Ride back in time on a restored 1946 San Diego Vintage Trolley car that loops downtown including the SDG&E Silver Line with stops at Santa Fe Depot, Seaport Village, the Gaslamp and more. $2.50.

MTS buses cost $2.25 per ride, or there’s the unlimited bus and trolley day pass for $5-7. There is a $2 fee for a Compass Card, which can be reloaded. Use the Compass Cloud mobile ticketing app on your smartphone for your whole trip!

The 15-minute Ferry to Coronado Island departs from terminals at Broadway Pier and the Convention Center. $4.75 each way.

Balboa Park has a Free Tram to access the park’s museums and attractions. Park in the “Inspirational Point” lot.

Head up to Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad or Oceanside on the Coaster train from Downtown, or travel east to west in North County on the Sprinter train.

Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner runs down the California coast, serving key locations like San Diego, Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Santa Barbara.

Safety Protocol

Emergency Evacuation

In the event of an emergency evacuation, please follow the below protocol:

  • Familiarize yourself with all the available emergency exits and routes – on guest room floors, meeting spaces and public areas. All emergency exits have illuminated signs
  • Listen and follow announcements on the enunciator system
  • If the announcement orders an evacuation we evacuate out of the building via the nearest fire exit
  • Once out of the building please make your way to the nearby City Center Park which will be the ‘rally’ point
Medical Information
  • The Hotel has a number of First Responders who are trained in First Aid/CPR/AED/Oxygen on-site. These First Responders are available 24/7.
Contacting Hotel Security in the Event of a Medical or Emergency Situation:
  • Pick up any house phone in the Meeting Space or Public Areas and you will be connected to a Front Desk Agent who will contactl the Manager on Duty to respond
